On 12 February 2026, HIAS+JCORE hosted a fascinating webinar exploring the work of MPs Eleanor Rathbone and Josiah Wedgwood in the 20th century.
Expert speakers Dr. Susan Cohen and Lesley Urbach talked us through the role each played in championing refugee rights, before exploring connections between this advocacy and efforts for refugee rights today. While the contexts are very different, our audience heard about the fascinating parallels between many of the challenges faced – now and then – by refugee rights advocates.
The event also explored the legacy of this work and contemporary understandings of schemes like the Kindertransport.
