Rabbis speak out for a 56-day ‘move-on’ period

This Sukkot, HIAS+JCORE has joined with Rabbis from across the Jewish community to call for a permanent 56-day ‘move-on’ period for new refugees.

After receiving a positive decision on their asylum claim, most people currently have just 28 days to find somewhere to live, and a way to fund it. We know that this is clearly far too little time – and many will be forced into homelessness and destitution as a result.

As we sit in our Sukkahs, we’re reminded not only of the importance of shelter, but also the fragility of seeking sanctuary. Join us and help build a fairer future for displaced people: one where every new refugee has a fair chance to find a permanent home.
